Grades 1–5 are included in our primary program. With an emphasis on experiential learning, MJMHSS primary program pedagogy is very child-centric. Even though we continue to follow the Montessori forward program, our primary education intentionally focuses on the students’ early speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Our immersive learning approach improves a child’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.

We offer peer teaching, open question forums, specialized student-teacher chats, and a ton of exciting, hands-on learning activities. We have created pertinent, all-encompassing learning experiences because we think that a happy classroom produces a happy child. We make sure that both indoor and outdoor classes are balanced. Our program places a strong emphasis on using sports and the arts to foster teamwork, which promotes friendship and a sense of community.

For Grades 1, 2, and 3, we use an ongoing, thorough evaluation process. Using a range of tests, it assists teachers in identifying the student’s areas of weakness. By identifying the students’ learning difficulties, it helps to improve and upgrade their performance. Formal exams are introduced to students starting in grade 4. The primary education program provides a seamless transition into secondary education with a focus on creative thinking and holistic education at its heart.

UNIQUE CLASS STRUCTURE

In the formative years, we cultivate an environment akin to a nurturing mother-teacher relationship. Up until Grade 3, dedicated class moms oversee the holistic development of our young scholars. Our students begin their day with a burst of energy during the Class Teacher (CT) period. This dedicated time includes activities like circle time, music and movement, life skills, and general knowledge sessions, setting the tone for an active day of learning.

THEME BASED LEARNING

Skill Development Beyond the Textbook Through Theme-Based Learning, students don’t just gain academic knowledge β€” they also build essential life skills such as:

  • Observation and inquiry
  • Critical thinking and reasoning
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Empathy and teamwork
  • Creative problem-solving

By organizing our curriculum around engaging themes, we fervently believe in bringing relevance and excitement to education. Hands-on activities centered around each month’s theme foster their natural curiosity and aid in contextualizing the real world.

INTERACTIVE LEARNING

During the first fifteen minutes of the day, students in Grades 4 and 5 engage in a variety of stimulating activities. These activities include book reviews, which encourage a love of reading, and group discussions, which help them confidently voice their opinions in public. Our curriculum encourages subject integration so that students can create connections between various areas of knowledge.

Book Reviews

Students are encouraged to pick a book of their choice, read it independently, and then present their review to the class. This not only cultivates a love for reading, but also enhances vocabulary, comprehension, critical thinking, and public speaking skills.

Group Discussions

Students participate in guided discussions on age-appropriate topics, encouraging them to form opinions, listen to others, respect different viewpoints, and speak with clarity and confidence. These discussions help build communication skills and empathy while developing awareness of real-world issues.

Creative Presentations

Children are given opportunities to present their ideas through charts, posters, models, and storytelling, making them comfortable with expressing knowledge creatively and confidently.

CONTINUOUS COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION

CCE is an assessment system that aims to evaluate all aspects of a student’s development on a continuous basis. It includes both academic and non-academic skills and tracks progress in a way that is ongoing, supportive, and developmental rather than judgmental.

Structured Evaluation in Grades 4 and 5

As students progress to Grades 4 and 5, formal assessment becomes more structured. Periodic written tests and subject-based evaluations are gradually introduced to help students prepare for future academic expectations. These exams are carefully designed to test understanding, reasoning, and application rather than rote memorization.

This balanced introduction of formal exams helps students:

  • Develop time management and exam skills
  • Practice presenting knowledge in a structured format
  • Gain confidence in handling assessments
  • Improve academic performance gradually and confidently

Even these formal assessments are accompanied by formative tools such as project work, oral presentations, and interactive exercises to ensure a well-rounded evaluation.
